Eva Gentner
Moby Dick
This book was created for Eva Gentner’s exhibition »ocean« at the Rudolf-Scharpf-Galerie, Wilhelm-Hack-Museum Ludwigshafen.
The interplay between horizontal and vertical text provides a smooth transition between the two narrative layers in Gentner’s work. Drawing inspiration from Melville’s »Moby Dick«, Gentner references skin (whale skin, the water’s surface, tattoos) – echoing this, the book’s cover is made of a waterproof, crease-resistant material with a tactile, skin-like texture.
Published by Verlag Kettler // Ed. René Zechlin // Texts: Eva Gentner, Nora Jaeger, René Zechlin, Philipp Ziegler // Otabind, 96 pages, 12,5 x 19 cm // ISBN 978-3-86206-814-2
