In his flower images, Kenji Toma reflects Pierre-Joseph Redouté’s »Choix des plus belles fleurs« (1827) and other florilegiums, however he goes the other way around by manipulating his photographs until they obtain an artificial, drawn quality.

The book’s design also makes a reference to Redouté’s historic title, but goes beyond that in its purist presentation.
